The capital’s ambulance service

Where we fit in the NHS

We are the only NHS trust that covers the whole of London.

Our performance is monitored by the strategic health authority NHS England. Ultimately we are responsible to the Department of Health.

Our structure

We have over 5,500 staff based at ambulance stations and support offices across London.

Our emergency response service is split into five operational areas across London— North West, North Central, North East, South West and South East. Each area is managed by an assistant director of operations.

We have a total of 70 ambulance stations across London which, for management purposes, sit within 26 local operational areas, known as group stations.

Each complex is overseen by group station managers, supported by a team of clinical team leaders.
