The capital’s ambulance service

Where we fit in the NHS

We are the only NHS trust that covers the whole of London.

We report our performance to the regulator NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE/I) and are ultimately responsible to the Department of Health and Social Care.

Our structure

We have around 8,000 staff and volunteers based at ambulance stations and support offices across London.

Our emergency response service is split into five operational areas across London: North West, North Central, North East, South West and South East. Each area is managed by an Assistant Director of Operations.

We have a total of 70 ambulance stations across London which, for management purposes, sit within 26 local operational areas, known as group stations.

Each complex is overseen by location group managers, supported by a team of clinical team managers.
