Initiating and Delivering Clinical Research
The Government wishes to see a dramatic and sustained improvement in the performance of NHS services providers in initiating and delivering clinical research. The aim is to increase the number of patients who have the opportunity to participate in research and to enhance the nation’s attractiveness as a host for research.
The London Ambulance Service NHS Trust produces quarterly reports detailing our performance against two performance benchmarks, set by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). These are designed to encourage quicker initiation of clinical trials and recruitment of the target number of participants within the timeframe agreed with the Sponsor.
The two performance benchmarks are as follows:
- Performance in Initiating Clinical Research
Below you will find details of all clinical trials for which the LAS issued approval between
1 January 2018 to 31 December 2018 Q3 Performance in Initiating Clinical Research Report (April 2018 –March2019)
- Performance in Delivering Clinical Research
This benchmark requires the LAS to report on whether the Trust is recruiting the target number of patients to clinical trials within the timeframe agreed with the Sponsor. This applies to commercially sponsored trials only. Between 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2018 the LAS did not participate in any commercially sponsored trials.
