TOC is formed of many teams who work collaboratively to maintain service continuity, responding to dynamic operational challenges, and support complex, significant and major incidents across London.
The roles within the Tactical Operations centre are:
- Incident Delivery Manager: the most senior duty manager and duty tactical commander, overseeing the delivery of operations across London to ensure patient safety, effective service delivery, and a coordinated response to incidents.
- Operational Delivery Manager: the first point of contact for internal and external organisations. They support our Incident Delivery Manager and frontline staff, help manage complex incidents and patient movement through hospitals.
- Incident Management Desk: this team make sure the right response is sent to each incident. They work closely with specialist teams, including Incident Response Officers (IRO), London Air Ambulance, Critical Care Advanced Paramedic Practitioners (APPCC), Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), Tactical Response Unit (TRU), Clinical Team Managers (CTM).
- Patient Flow Desk: works with colleagues across all major hospitals in London to ensure patients are seen, assessed and triaged into the Accident and Emergency department in a timely manner.
- Production Hub: supports our crews who deal with complex and challenging complex incidents whilst on shift and ensuring that our vehicles maintain road safety.
- Specialist London’s Air Ambulance Paramedic, and Advanced Paramedic Practitioners: specialist clinical teams who oversee real-time incoming emergency calls and identify incidents which may require the dispatch of London’s Air Ambulance Advanced Trauma teams by car or helicopter They provide advice and clinical support to patients and resources on scene.
- Clinical Safety Officer: experienced clinician located within TOC responsible for clinical safety and oversight, supporting the Incident Delivery Manager with clinical decision-making.
