Equality – the Equality & Human Rights Commission defines “equality” as: ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives and talents. It is also the belief that no one should have poorer life chances because of the way they were born, where they come from, what they believe, or whether they have a disability. Equality recognises that historically certain groups of people with protected characteristics such as race, disability, sex and sexual orientation have experienced discrimination.
Diversity – the NHS defines “diversity” as: recognising and valuing difference in its broadest sense.
Inclusion – the NHS defines “inclusion” as: an individual’s experience within the workplace and in wider society, and the extent to which they feel valued and have equal access to opportunities and resources.
London Ambulance Service is proud to care for the people who visit, work, and live in our global city. We are proud to celebrate the diversity of our staff and are resolute in our commitment to provide care with compassion, respect, and fairness – regardless of a patient’s background or situation, or how they identify.
Discrimination of any form has no place in our service.
We commit to supporting equity, being anti-racist, and tackling discrimination in all that we do.
The Trust continues to embed EDI within all its work and is a key theme within the Trust’s 2023-2028 Strategy.

London Ambulance Service supports the joint statement made by the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) and the College of Paramedics (CoP), expressing deep sadness and concern over the ongoing harm and loss of life caused by global conflicts.
