Enter the Dragons: an afternoon of team building, pumping adrenaline and fundraising!

The London Ambulance Charity is calling on Londoners to team up for a fundraising afternoon of Dragon Boat racing to support its work improving the health of patients and the wellbeing of staff and volunteers.

The charity’s inaugural Dragon Boat Race competition will take to the water at 1pm on Thursday 18 July at Surrey Quays Docks, and promises an exciting summer atmosphere complete with racing, music and food.

Each team of 10 rowers and a drummer setting the rhythm in the distinctly designed dragon boats will complete a series of 200 metre races in order to lift the winning trophy. The sport requires a high level of teamwork and communication, making it an excellent team-building activity or fun for friends and family. The fastest teams are not necessarily the strongest, but those that can synchronise their paddling and work together most effectively. It’s an inclusive event suitable for all ages and skill levels—no prior experience is necessary, just eleven willing team mates and buckets of enthusiasm! Entrants have until 17 June to sign up.

“We’re always looking for exciting and creative ways to raise money for the London Ambulance Charity, from climbing the O2 and runs across London, so the Dragon Boat Race is a perfect event for our fundraisers.

“We’re so proud of what our supporters have raised for us this year and I know the excitement of a Dragon Boat race will be another amazing opportunity for them. Thanks to their efforts and enthusiasm, we will be able to support more paramedics and call handlers who care for the capital every day.”

The money raised will help fund projects like wellbeing initiatives for staff and volunteers out on ambulances or answering 999 calls and help save more lives by training London communities in life-saving skills.
