Londoners are being urged to lace up their walking shoes and join the London Life Hike in aid of the London Ambulance Service on Saturday 26 September.

Organised by the London Ambulance Charity, the London Life Hike is the flagship fundraising event of the year and raises money for additional defibrillators – the life-saving equipment that are used when people’s hearts stop beating.
In a cardiac arrest, where every second counts, this lack of access to a defibrillator can mean the difference between life and death.
People can sign up to one of two routes through the heart of the capital: a family-friendly 6km walk or a more challenging 21km adventure taking in some of London’s most iconic landmarks.
Every pound raised will help fund more defibrillators while also supporting vital training to help Londoners recognise a cardiac arrest and take action before an ambulance arrives.
Jess Burgess, Head of London Ambulance Charity, said:
“The London Life Hike will be an incredible day out for everyone while supporting an important cause.
“Where you live should never determine whether you survive a cardiac arrest. Everyone deserves the best possible chance of survival no matter their postcode.
“Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, often without warning and most commonly in the home.
“Defibrillators funded through the Life Hike could one day help save the life of a friend, neighbour or loved one.
“With just one week to go, we’re encouraging Londoners of all ages and abilities to join us and help create a city where everyone has a fighting chance of survival.”
A cardiac arrest happens when the heart suddenly stops pumping blood around the body. Immediate CPR and the use of a defibrillator significantly increase the chances of survival while waiting for ambulance crews to arrive.
Starting and finishing in Southwark Park, Rotherhithe, the London Life Hike offers something for everyone.
Families can enjoy an accessible 6km route featuring a children’s Explorer Challenge trail, while those looking for a bigger challenge can tackle the 21km route, passing famous landmarks including St Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben and Shakespeare’s Globe.
Join the London Life Hike on Saturday 26 September and help bring life-saving defibrillators to the communities that need them most. Sign up in advance or register on the day at the Southwark Park Bandstand.
