Ambulance medic urges Londoners to take the plunge at London Ambulance Charity abseil
London Ambulance Charity is calling on Londoners to raise vital funds for frontline crews by abseiling from one of the capital’s most famous football stadiums.

Thrill-seekers will descend 42 metres from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday 19 March to raise money for wellbeing support for frontline crews and defibrillators in priority areas across London.
Ellie Buckley, an emergency medical technician at London Ambulance Service, conquered her fears at last year’s Big Stadium Abseil.
The Charity, which funds wellbeing initiatives for ambulance crews and 999 call handlers, had previously helped Ellie when she had to take time off the road to recover from an injury.
The wellbeing team also supported her with rehabilitation.
Whilst Ellie was recovering, she worked in the London Ambulance Service’s wellbeing team to provide support for colleagues.
She said: “I’ve experienced first-hand how funding from the Charity can really help us get back on the road and caring for our patients again.
“I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of the London Ambulance Charity and our LAS Wellbeing team.
“The Charity has such a big impact on staff and volunteers. That’s why this year I’m taking part in the Big Stadium Abseil again and ask that Londoners come together and sign up too! It’s daunting at first, but it is so much fun and incredibly rewarding – and all for a great cause.”
You’ll be safely clipped into guide ropes, given a countdown, and then take one of the biggest and most rewarding steps of your life.
Jess Burgess, Head of Charity at London Ambulance Charity, said: “At last year’s Big Stadium Abseil, our participants raised a staggering £28,000 that went towards supporting frontline crews, as well as funding defibrillators and life-saving training for local neighbourhoods.
“I’d encourage Londoners to follow in their footsteps and make a difference to the health of their local communities.”
A registration fee of £25 per person will apply. Participants taking part in the event are asked to raise £100 for the Charity.
No previous experience is required to take part. All participants will be provided with appropriate safety equipment and a full safety briefing, which will take place before they make the descent.
All participants must be at least 12 years of age to take part in the abseil.
