Paramedic and twin sister saddle up for London to Brighton Cycle Ride to save lives
A London Ambulance paramedic and her twin sister will saddle up and take on the iconic London to Brighton Cycle Ride in support of frontline crews.

Paramedic Sam Redman and her sister, Lucy Redman, both 25 and from Croydon, will take on their first challenge together when they brave the UK’s biggest cycle event in September.
Sam and Lucy are also calling on others to join them on an unforgettable 55-mile journey to the south coast by signing up with the London Ambulance Charity.
Sam, who loves playing football and cycling, said:
“We really want to support the London Ambulance Charity as they provided me with counselling, which I really benefitted from during a difficult period in my life.
“I love being a paramedic and it’s incredibly rewarding to have a positive effect on local communities in London.
“It’s going to be really good fun. Lucy and I play a lot of sports and run half-marathons but we’ve never done something like this together.
“I enjoy cycling – like road cycling, gravel and mountain biking. But we both wanted to do something different as we have both done running events before but find cycling more fun and leisurely.
“I’d strongly encourage others to sign up and be part of something special – helping our Charity to look after our frontline crews who work tirelessly to provide the very best care for Londoners.”
Lucy, a keen roller-skater and web designer, added:
“We’re looking forward to the challenge, with the camaraderie and the incredible atmosphere that the cycle ride brings.
“I think it will bring us closer together as sisters while being part of a wide community effort to raise money to help frontline crews.”
The cycling event – taking place on Sunday 13 September – brings together thousands of riders from across the country.
The money raised will support staff at London Ambulance Service by funding wellbeing initiatives for frontline crews, including wellbeing support vehicles, outdoor gardens and rest areas at ambulance stations.
Jess Burgess, Head of London Ambulance Charity, said:
“The London to Brighton Cycle Ride is an inspiring way to support the very people who are there for Londoners in their greatest moments of need.
“The atmosphere is electric, the challenge is rewarding, and every rider makes a real difference.
“If you or someone you love has ever needed our paramedics or call handlers, this is your chance to say thank you.
“Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or taking on your first big ride, the event offers an incredible opportunity to challenge yourself while raising vital funds for life-saving work.”
