Leadership team strengthened with two new non-executive directors

London Ambulance Service has recruited two new members to its Trust Board.

Jayne Mee and Sheila Doyle have joined the Service as non-executive directors.

Jayne brings over 25 years in human resources and organisation development experience to the organisation. She has worked in executive roles with the Boots Company, Sears, Whitbread, Royal Mail, Punch Taverns, Barratt Developments, and until June 2015 she was Director of People and Organisation Development at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Her work includes supporting organisations in culture change, engagement and transformation.

Jayne, who took up the role in January, said: “I am delighted to join London Ambulance Service underlining my passion and commitment to the NHS. The environment we work in is an increasingly challenging one, so I relish the opportunity to support our staff in creating a great organisation which offers the highest standards of care and clinical excellence to our patients.”

Sheila Doyle, Deloitte’s chief information officer, has over 30 years’ IT experience and has held senior positions at Norton Rose Fulbright, BP, and various financial services organisations. Sheila spent several years in Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore. Whilst at IBM she provided IT consulting  services to financial and manufacturing sectors in the Asia Pacific region.

Sheila said: “I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with London Ambulance Service and I am looking forward to using my experience to help us improve the quality of care we provide to patients in London.”

London Ambulance Service Chairman Heather Lawrence added: “We’re delighted to welcome Jayne and Sheila, who bring valuable knowledge and expertise to the Board at what is a very important time for the Trust.”

  • The appointments were made by NHS Improvement which is responsible for appointing all chairs and non-executives to NHS trusts throughout England.  All appointments are subject to the Governance Code for Public Appointments, and made following an open competition based on merit, in a way that is open, transparent and fair to all applicants.
  • Jayne took up her post on 9 January and will continue until 8 January 2021. She will be paid £6,517 per year.
  • Sheila took up her post on 6 February and will continue until 5 February 2021. She will be paid £6,157 per year..
