To be attributed to Jason Killens, Director of Operations:
“Like many emergency services throughout the UK, our colleagues at South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) are receiving a high volume of calls due to the flooding.
“Having managed the current situation in Berkshire for the last four days, SCAS have asked if we can help boost their resources so they can release some teams to cover other affected areas within their region.
“We are sending eight medics from our Hazardous Area Response team who are especially trained to give life-saving care in difficult circumstances such as in or around water.
“They will work in two shifts of four, providing 24 hour care, helping to retrieve patients affected by the flooding, maintaining the highest level of care possible to patients.
“All emergency services have plans in place for mutual aid when faced with unexpected pressures and we are happy to be able to respond.”
