Several items were stolen from an ambulance while the crew were treating a patient on Tuesday evening (11 October).
The emergency vehicle was parked on Pincott Road, Wimbledon, at around 8pm and when staff returned to take the patient to hospital, they discovered that several items were missing, including a stab vest, a medical textbook and glasses.
Wimbledon Duty Station Officer Marcus Burrell said: “It’s shocking that someone would steal from an ambulance while its crew were busy treating a patient.
“This incident meant that an ambulance was off the road for a long time while the police investigated – when it should have been being used by a crew to get vital medical help to the people of Wimbledon.”
