Fire in Peckham, SE15

To be attributed to a London Ambulance Service spokesperson:

“We were called at 4.36 am today to reports of a fire in Carisbrooke Gardens in Peckham.

“We sent 15 ambulance crews to the scene, along with a number of managers and our hazardous area response team (HART). The first staff arrived there within four minutes.

“Four patients – three women and a man – have been taken to King’s College Hospital. They suffered mainly from smoke inhalation and thankfully noone was seriously hurt.

“Our staff assisted with evacuating over 300 people from their homes as well as providing advice and guidance to those who were without regular medication, and collecting insulin for several people with diabetes.”
