Text 999 service launched for speech and hearing-impaired Londoners

Hearing or speech-impaired Londoners are now able to text 999 to ask for help during a medical or other emergency following the launch of ‘emergencySMS’ – a text message based service being piloted nationally.

Users must register their mobile phone on http://www.emergencysms.org.uk/ to be able to access the service.

For more information on how to contact the ambulance service using emergencySMS, please visit our ‘Calling 999’ section.

The Service is participating in the pilot alongside other emergency services in London and nationally. For more information on the national scheme, please visit http://www.emergencysms.org.uk/
