Equality & inclusion strategy 2010-13
We are committed to promoting equality,
inclusion and human rights, tackling discrimination and promoting
the rights of the many and diverse communities we serve. In order
to ensure that we are doing just this, we have created and
published a new equality & inclusion strategy.
Our new equality & inclusion strategy
takes forward the work previously progressed through the race,
disability and gender equality schemes and will ensure that we can
meet our duties under the new Equality Act 2010.
The strategy replaces the Service’s
previous race, disability and gender equality schemes.
EasyRead
We have an EasyRead version of our equality & inclusion
strategy 2010-13.
Annual equality reports
The Equality Act 2010 requires all public
bodies and NHS Trusts to assess their performance on equality and
inclusion across the protected characteristic groups (age,
disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership,
pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual
orientation) and show how they are improving the experiences of
staff, patients and service users and other stakeholders,
Each year we publish our annual equality
report, which details the progress it has made over the last year
on equality and inclusion issues in regard to its staff, patients
and service users and other stakeholders, across all the key
functions of the Service.
Other documents
In December 2011 the we carried out our first staff data refresh
across protected characteristic groups. We will continue to carry
out the staff data refresh on a regular basis to ensure we have
accurate, up-to-date information and enable us to
track our progress on recruiting, retaining and developing a
workforce reflecting the rich diversity of our capital city.
These regular reports, along with other relevant documents
provide the information required by the
Equality Act 2010 public sector duty.
