Last year the our equality & inclusion
team asked staff to fill out a survey asking what staff diversity
forums they would be interested in joining. Following initial
feedback, developmental days were offered to those who had
expressed their interest in joining the new forums.
As a result two new staff diversity forums
have now been established:
- an LGB forum for lesbian, gay and bisexual staff, and
- a disabled staff/carers forum.
There is the opportunity for further
staff diversity forums, depending on staff feedback.
Our new forums give staff the opportunity to
share experiences and lead on relevant engagement activities
on behalf of the Service. They provide a supportive and
confidential environment for staff, friends and colleagues, as well
as opportunities for new learning and development activities.
Through the new forums staff can become
actively be involved in the future policy and service development
in the Service, acting as a voice on key consultations and
critical friends on equality impact assessments.
