We are members of all seven of the national leading
employers’ equality forums in the UK: Employers Forum on Age,
Belief, Disability, Opportunity Now, Race for Opportunity and
Stonewall diversity champions.
Our membership of these leading employers’ forums helps us to
continuously improve our services and employment practices so that
we can be at the forefront of best practice on equality and
inclusion.

age.

independent employers' network developed by employers themselves to
share good practice on religion, belief and non-belief in order to
make the most of their diverse workforces.
Employers' Forum on Disability

Employers' Forum on Disability is the world’s leading employers’
organisation focused on disability, as it affects business. Its

making it easier to recruit and retain disabled employees and to
serve disabled customers.

organisation for employers who are committed to creating an
inclusive workplace for women. It works with its membership of

Stonewall diversity champions

Britain's good practice forum in which employers can work with
Stonewall, and each other, to promote lesbian, gay and bisexual
equality in the workplace. We we also recently named named among the
country’s most gay-friendly workplaces. It is the first time that
the organisation has made Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers list and
was this year the only ambulance service to do so. Read more about our Stonewall recognition.
Two Ticks - positive about disabled people
We use the two ticks symbol to
demonstrate our commitment both to people who are disabled and to
our patients. Any organisation using the symbol must make these
five commitments:
- Commitment one: Recruitment –
interviewing all disabled applicants who meet the minimum
conditions for a job vacancy and considering them based on their
abilities.
- Commitment two: Consulting disabled
employees – making sure there is a system in place to discuss, at
any time (but at least once a year), what the organisation and they
can do to make sure they can develop and use their abilities.
- Commitment three: Keeping people who
become disabled – making every effort, when employees become
disabled, to make sure they stay in employment.
- Commitment four: Developing awareness –
taking action to make sure that all employees develop the
appropriate level of understanding about the effects of being
disabled needed to make the commitments work.
- Commitment five: Reviewing progress and
keeping people informed – each year, reviewing the five
commitments and what has been achieved, and planning ways to
improve on them and letting employees and JobCentre Plus know about
progress and future plans.
We are delighted to announce that in 2012 London Ambulance
Service NHS Trust has now become a Stonewall Top 100
Employer, coming joint 94th on the Stonewall
Workplace Equality Index .This year’s index was the most
competitive to date, with revised criteria and entries from
363 organisations across the private, public and voluntary sectors.
We will continue to benchmark our progress against the Index, in
our aim to make the organisation a welcoming and inclusive
environment where everyone can be themselves and make the most
of their potential.
