A Sat Nav, stab vest and even a
banana were among items stolen from an ambulance while the crew
were busy treating a patient.
The Chiswick-based crew parked the ambulance
in Grove Road, Acton, at 6am on Thursday (2 September) while they
treated a patient who had been taken unwell at a nearby address.
When they returned to the vehicle, they found the Sat Nav missing,
along with their personal belongings, a stab vest, fleece jacket
and the fruit.
Most of the items were later recovered in the
surrounding area, however the Sat Nav was not.
Ambulance Operations Manager for Ealing
Pauline Cranmer said: “It’s a very sorry situation that someone
would stoop so low as to steal from an ambulance. Our Sat Navs do
not work in any other vehicles so would be useless to anyone else
anyway.
“This incident meant that an ambulance was off
the road for the best part of a day while the police investigated –
when it should have been being used by a crew to get vital medical
help to the people of Ealing.”
