This year has been another very busy one for the London
Ambulance Service; we've cared for patients, engaged with the
public and been involved in some great charity events.
Here are some photos taken over the last 12 months showing just
some of things we did in 2011.

January
We held our first 'An evening with us' public event where people
could find out more about our organisation and the work we do.
In this photo, cardiac arrest survivor Steve Hodder tells his
amazing story of being saved with a defibrillator when he collapsed
at London Bridge rail station.
February
We actively support the junior citizen
scheme and help to educate Year Six pupils (10-11 year olds) in
highlighting hazardous situations they may face in their everyday
lives.
In this photo, Emergency Medical Technician Kim Speed teaches
basic life
support to pupils at a school in Croydon.
March
A few times each year we recognise the dedication
of staff who are either retiring or who are 'long
servers'.
This photo shows staff who have served Londoners for over 20
years at the
'Celebration of Service' event in March.
April
As hundreds of thousands of well wishers flocked
to central London for the
Royal Wedding, staff were making sure patients continued to get
the treatment they needed.
In this photo, staff take a short break from caring for the
crowds to join the celebrations as the newlyweds pass.
May
Ambulance Officer
Jim McCluskey was saved by quick-thinking lifeguards and
ambulance colleagues when he suffered a cardiac arrest while swimming.
In this photo, Jim is reunited with his lifesavers at the pool
where his heart stopped beating.
June
It's not just our patients' health
we care about, but our staff's too.
In this photo, Clinical Tutor Stella Jenkins has her blood
pressure taken at a staff health event at Camden ambulance
station.
July
Our staff go to
many fairs and festivals in the capital to educate the
public on how the ambulance service works and what they can do
in an emergency.
In this photo, Motorcycle Paramedic Lee Davis attends a
fesitval on Caledonian Road in Islington, north London.
August
Volunteers arrived in Mongolia after
driving six decommissioned LDV London ambulances from
Horseguards Parade to donate to local health providers.
In this photo, one of the vehicles drives into the Mongolian
sunset after a 7,500-mile journey.
September
The Service was asked by the
Department of Health to coordinate the process of bringing
seriously-injured Libyan patients to the UK for treatment.
In this photo, the first Libyan patient
Abdul Malek El Hamdi is cared for by paramedics as he arrives
at Luton Airport.
October
Our motorcycle response unit and our
work with the deaf community was
featured on BBC See Hear.
In this photo, Motorcycle Paramedic Richard Webb-Stevens
talks to the camera.
November
Public sector industrial action over Government
pension plans thrust the Service into the media spotlight as
our response to 999 demand was seriously affected.
In this photo, Assistant Chief Ambulance Officer John
Pooley gives a live interview on the BBC News Channel asking
Londoners to use their ambulance service wisely.
December
Tower Hamlets Emergency Medical Technician Kerry Masarati,
who practices martial arts in her spare time,
won a world title in her class.
In this photo, Kerry demonstrates her skills.
