More than 700 patients treated at Notting Hill Carnival

31 August 2010

The sun shone on an enjoyable and peaceful Notting Hill Carnival over the bank holiday weekend.

Over the course of two days, the Service worked with St John Ambulance to treat 706 patients, with 117 of those taken to hospital.

Most people were treated for minor injuries or illness.

Performance Improvement Manager Paul Gates said: “We had a very busy couple of days, but through working closely with St John Ambulance, the police and organisers we were able to provide a prompt and effective medical service for the crowds enjoying the Carnival.

“I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in managing our response or delivering care to the large number of calls we received and for playing their part in supporting this important event.”

More than 350 medical staff were on duty on both days.
