The London Ambulance Service is appealing for the return of
two cycle response pushbikes after they were stolen from outside
the home of a patient in Finsbury.
The custom-built Specialized Rockhopper
mountain bikes were taken yesterday evening (Wednesday) from Joseph
Trotter Close, EC1, after staff had been called to attend a man who
was unwell.
City and Hackney Ambulance Operations Manager
Michael Pearce said: “Our main priority is to get the bikes back as
soon as possible.
“We don’t know if this was a prank that went
too far, or a more deliberate theft, but it would have been obvious
who they belonged to.
“We’d like to think that the consciences of
those responsible might get the better of them, and the bikes will
be able to be returned to us. If anyone does find them then we
would ask that they are taken to a local police station.”
Islington Police are appealing to members of
the public who witnessed or have any information about this crime
to come forward.
Investigating Officer, DI Yasmin Lalani said:
“These bicycles were used to respond to an emergency call, they
were clearly marked and had medical bags strapped on them. It is
shocking that they were stolen and would have put people’s lives at
risk. I urge anyone with information to call us on 020 7421 0250 or
Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
