The London Safeguarding
Children Board has issued guidance about a rapid
response service for unexpected deaths in infancy and
childhood. You can find this outlined in chapter 7 of the
Government guidance
Working Together to Safeguard Children (DCSF, 2006). This
procedure applies when a child dies unexpectedly (birth up to
18th birthday, excluding stillborn babies), or where
there is a lack of clarity about whether a death of a child is
unexpected.
An amended London rapid response procedure,
which covers the entire process, has been issued for
consultation. For more information visit
the London safeguarding children
board website.
As a result we have amended some parts of our
sudden unexpected death in infants (SUDI) procedure to take into
consideration the responsibilities of ambulance staff arriving at
the scene.
Download the documents below to find out
more about the amendments we have made and how this affects
the role of our service.
