In some areas of London
we run ambulance community responder volunteer schemes.
Members of the public are given emergency life-support training and
respond alongside our staff to life-threatening 999 calls.
Ambulance community responders have the training and equipment
to save your life if you are suffering from a cardiac
arrest, when your heart stops beating. When suffering from
cardiac arrest you need this life-saving intervention as soon as
possible to give you the best possible chance of survival.
An ambulance community responder living around the corner
can be with you and delivering this care in under two minutes while
an ambulance is on the way. They are also sent to other
life-threatening 999 calls where they can assess and comfort a
patient while our staff are on the way.
