Our story

The ambulance service that we provide today has come a long way since its earliest days in the late 19th century. Over 100 years later, we are now the busiest ambulance service in the world, with 4,500 staff and 70 ambulance stations across the capital.

We've picked out some of the key dates in our development on the chronology page.

And if you'd like to talk to someone about our old vehicles, equipment and other memorabilia and find out more about our history, contact the historic society LASHistory@londonambulance.nhs.uk
